Charleston Pirates Head Coach, Jarriel King, is a former NFL, CFL, and Division 1 offensive lineman. He dominated at offensive line with technique and pure nastiness. King was named to the All-Southeast Region team by PrepStar magazine.
Coach King graduated from North Charleston (S.C.) High School in 2005. Played in the 2004 North-South All-Star game... named to the Class AAA All-Defensive Team and rated the 11th-best player in the state by High School Sports Report... rated the 22nd-best player in the state of South Carolina by PrepStar... named first-team All-Low Country and first-team all-state... was the Charleston Post & Courier Lineman of the Year... 1 of 50 players nationwide to be named to the 'Old Spice Red Zone Team, listed in USA Today... team captain... captain of basketball team in high school …region champion in the shot put and MVP on the track team... did not play organized football until freshman year... recorded 106 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 5 forced fumbles and three blocked kicks in 2004... as an offensive lineman in 2004, was credited with 29 pancake blocks.
King then went on to peruse a collegiate career after accepting a full scholarship to the University of South Carolina where he was a part of what most claim to be the best Carolina team ever. King helped the Gamecocks in defeating many high profiled teams such as Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and a steak of wins against rival Clemson Tigers.
King also was selected and played in the NFLPA all-star game before he graduated with his Bachelors in Sociology and a minor I family studies and then went to being signed to the New York Football Giants in 2011. In 2012 King was traded to the Seattle Seahawks where he played for the remainder of the season. King then found a home in the CLF with the Toronto Argonauts and the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he played from 2013-2017 at offensive line.
